FAQ City Water Systems

Quadmaxx

Why buy a whole house filter?

It is extremely important to filter all the water throughout your home as certain contaminants such as chlorine; which has been linked to cancer, and VOCS are easily absorbed through the skin. Water dispensing refrigerators and ice makers also require filtered water. In addition, children have a tendency to drink water from all faucets in the home so you want to be sure to protect them. And of course, there is the convenience of having clean, healthy, great tasting water from every faucet in your home.

What does the Quadmaxx remove from the water?

In an independent lab test, the Quadmaxx removed 99% of the chlorine, and reduced lead, arsenic, mercury, aluminum, VOCs and THMs found in the test water supply. Actual results may vary based on your home’s specific water supply. Your water will be chlorine free, odor free, and will taste great.

What makes the Quadmaxx different from other whole house water filters?

The patented blend of purification media utilize a unique 3 dimensional design that allows for more surface contact area and the quadruple flow design allows the water to spend more time in the purification media. All this is accomplished with virtually no loss of water pressure.

Will the Quadmaxx work on private well water?

The Quadmaxx was designed to filter and purify municipal water only. Well water presents different problems. Check out our solutions for well water.

Will the Quadmaxx remove iron?

The Quadmaxx is designed to remove the aforementioned contaminants, and as such is not designed to remove iron on its own as it would clog the purification media, and a pre-filter is required. HydroCare offers a highly effective pre-filter as an addition to the Quadmaxx and can be purchased at checkout.

What is inside each canister?

Each canister contains an identical patented blend of 3 dimensional material which is embedded with superior purification media, all tested and proven to remove a number of contaminants.

Why 4 canisters instead of one?

Through the highly innovative 4 canister design, the Quadmaxx is able to achieve high standards of water purification without loss of water pressure. This unique design also provides the capability to continue to use the Quadmaxx even in the event that one of the canisters gets damaged.

Does the water pass through all 4 canisters?

The inlet water supply is split into four separate flows, each passing through one of the identical canisters. This allows for increased time spent going through the purification media without any drop in water pressure.

How do I replace the purification media?

When the time comes, shut off the water flow into the house and open up a faucet to drain the water in the pipeline. Then remove each canister, push the old media out using the media insertion tool included with the Quadmaxx and dispose. Utilizing the media insertion tool push the replacement media into the canister and then snap the canister back into place. Once all four canisters have been changed, slowly turn on the water supply checking for any leaks. For a visual demonstration please see the video on the bottom left.

How does this system compare to other filtration units?

The system features a proprietary blend of catalytic and process media including: electrochemical, electronic, catalytic, oxidation/reduction, and adsorption. The media are embedded in a patented 3D structure to increase surface contact area. Coupled with our patented parallel flow design which increases contact time with the media, the DualPlexx delivers superior purification with virtually no loss of pressure. The first filter will remove sediment, iron, and hydrogen sulfide and prevent bacterial and algae growth.

How do I replace the purification media?

To replace the purification media, shut off the water supply to the system. Open a faucet in the house to release pressure from the canisters. Using the plastic wrench included with your system, slowly unscrew the first canister. Keep a pail and towel handy just in case. Remove the inner white canister, unscrew it and replace the old media with your new set. Put the white canister back into the blue one. Apply silicone (included) to the black “O” rings, screw the canister back into the system by hand and tighten with the plastic wrench. Repeat the process for all three canisters.

How often do I need to replace the purification media?

The Dualplexx has an 80,000 gallon capacity but the answer really depends on water usage. We recommend changing the media approximately every 9-12 months.
